What? The whole point of politics is that our elected leaders should represent the people. They should be taking money from us regular voters, not wealthy interests, which seems to be the explicit purpose of this provision.

If we get more progressive Democrats and more “Trump-y” Republicans, it’s because that’s where the grassroots political activity resides. This is a better alternative than allowing the corporate interests to sway election results and influence our leaders. I understand the fear of polarization — such is the nature of the American electorate — but I think those who oppose this provision are just carrying water for political corruption.
