I agree with this point. The stakes are so high with the Supreme Court that the process has inevitably become political.

How do you think we could better construct a system? Maybe some sort of 10 or 20 year limit for each justice? Also, while I know “court packing” is controversial because it benefits the party in power, it seems that more than nine justices would substantially lower the stakes of each appointment.
